If I have a 144hz freesync monitor, does it work with my gtx 1660?

Yes. Your GTX 1660 may not be able to render games at 144FPS depending on the game and settings, but it can connect and will fully work. It won't be the full G-SYNC experience, but FreeSync works with Nvidia GPUs.

Wait... does that mean I wouldn't get a 144hz 144 frames experience?

depends on the game. the 1660 can't reach 144 fps in all games.

You'll get it in most games, but your display can only show what your GPU outputs. Try running your games with V-sync and the FPS cap off to see the max framerate your GPU puts out. If it is over 144FPS, then your monitor will show 144FPS.

Oh ok. I thought by not having g-sync/freesync doesn't give 144hz. Good to know

he means that the G-sync experience isnt completely optimal compared to cerfified monitors, that only means when your framerate is lower than 144hz in terms of tearing etc.

 

but if your computer can put out 144hz then it will display it.
same as if i wasnt a freesync monitor, the variel refresh rate is only when under 144hz
