Is there a way to reset my password without logging in

I am on my 2013 mac book air 13 inch, after fixing trackpad by tightening a screw and booting into kubuntu 20.04 i am unable to log in for whatever reason, my password even when typed in on virtual keyboard doesnt work, is there any way for me to reset my password via grub or another method which allows me to access my account, i am the only user of my computer

Grub is just the bootloader. You can't reset your password from Grub unfortunately.

 

Is the physical keyboard actually working?

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

If you can get to the log in screen you can drop to a TTY (ALT+CTRL+F2-7) and log in as root. Then use the command 'passwd yourusername' and that should do the trick.
