.NET Core Hosting for small project

I need .NET core hosting for a project and there are too many options out there with features that I don't need. All I need for this project is:

• Custom domain support (this will go on a subdomain)
• .NET core support (just one site)
• 10 GB of storage
• One SQL server database, 1 GB is probably enough

I don't need email support or anything else like that. I also looked at Microsoft Azure but their cheapest options are supposedly dev only. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/app-service/windows/

 

Traffic will be low. Any suggestions?

Try looking around for VPS hosting, that should be significantly cheaper than things like Azure or AWS. A VPS that meets your needs will probably run you around $10 a month.

The SQL Server bit is going to hurt you. It's overkill for a small project, and there's really no cheap options there. You'd do much better with PosgreSQL or MySQL, both of which can be obtained free and installed on any VPS. I'm assuming you're using EF, and both are supported with that. Since it's .NET Core, go for Linux hosting, as that will save you the Windows lincensing fees.

Going with a VPS may over complicate things. I will be passing this on to others and need it to be managed with a control panel.
