Budget (USD): $1200

Country: The Great USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Heavy Research, and some Graphic Design (also must last for around 7 years (according to client))

Greetings Community, a friend and I are building a computer for a Church in Nocatee Alaska. The parts list is linked below. Peripherals are not up for debate as the person who wanted the computer wants these peripherals; however, we would like suggestions on the monitor but it has to be within $20 of the price of the monitor we picked. The motherboard must include WiFi unless we can get a motherboard cheaper and get a WiFi card. Also another note, if at all possible, we would like to order most, if not all the parts from AMZN (With Prime of course 😉).

One more note: Some of the parts for some reason do not show prices on PC Part Picker, all of the parts are currently available on Amazon.

Parts List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/M3FLQq

What will this be used for? Any particular reason you went with an older cpu and 32gb ram?

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

The CPU was the best price to performance and they need 32gb of ram because of the workload with many chrome tabs open, many many text documents etc.

well nothing lasts that long. but that i5 8400 is old even right now so that wont last long anymore. 8400 is pretty much ryzen 5 1500.

that psu is decen but you can get better

that case has really poor airflow.,

Ok, thanks Those are good options. I will look into that as we could cut back on the monitor (they do not need 144hz) and go with 32gb of ram (which is a need for them).

ryzen 5 3600 pretty much matches or beats i5 9600k with much cheaper price (similar to i5 8400)

and that 5600XT is pretty much rtx 2060 but cheaper. it beats the hekc out of the rx 580.

That team MP34 is similar to sabrent rocket in terms of speed.

not to mention that that motherboard looks bad ass. has good VRM so the user can upgrade to 12 core 4th gen ryzen cpu when the user needs more cpu power. (meaning htat he doesnt have to get a new motherboard if the user upgrades the cpu)

(just curious) Why would go with the MP34 of the Sabrent Rocket?

its cheaper but it seems liek the rocket is liottle faster. keep in mid for graphic designer the speed of the ssd doesnt really matter

Yes, and if upgradability was at all a concern we would have gone with AMD. However they are not computer illiterate by any means and it is very expensive to ship computer components to that part of Alaska.

We may end up going with the sabrent rocket as I know they are reliable and decently quick.

Do you happen to know of any cases that are white around that price yet have good airflow?

There's currently no price on the motherboard and monitor. Is your total budget $1200 including the monitor, peripherals etc.?
