budget streaming

can you stream on i5 10400F using x264 instead of Nvidia's NVENC encoder

in short can i use the CPU to stream without giving too much load to the GPU

you technically  can 

but nvec has little to no performance hit to your gpu so just use that.

btw if you do not have this cpu already do not get it. 

get a 3600/10600k and a z series board or a decent b450/550 board.

You can, but like, why? Unless you're using a GPU older than Pascal, I don't get why you wouldn't just use that.

i am what you can call an intel fanboy. i was going for the 3600. but recently got the 10400f in my country. so i am more inclined to get the 10400f. and my gpu is really bad. its just a 1050ti. so i want to leave my pleb gpu out of everything. moreover i want the stream to be free of frame drops which the 1050ti cant deliver

that does not use nvec 

it uses the old pascal/ volta encoder.

its a hardware encoder so it will have little to no performance hits 

either way x264 would be better than the old encoder.

@TofuHarotoit gives the option to use nvenc encoder. i had been using this for casual fb streams. but the streams are not smooth. so i am upgrading my pc. being a fanboy of intel, i am stuck between intel 10400F and r5 3600. ik r5 3600 performance is better. my question is if you tweak settings, can you get zero frame drop streams with the x264 encoder on the 10400f?

yea that's the old nvec or the pascal encoder. not the good turing one.

You can. But it will come at a cost. It’s gonna use the cpu a lot. And if you try to turn the settings way down to compensate, it won’t look at good. 
So stream quality should always take priority.
