Im looking to upgrade my b450 motherboard to get better support for next gen CPUs I currently have a aorus elite b450 mb and want to upgrade it to either b550 or x570 my main requirement is for it to have wireless WiFi built in these are the boards I've found

Aorus pro AC

Asus Rog strix b550-e

Msi amd Ryzen x570 mag tomahawk

I've got a budget of £220 which of these boards would be the best to get for next gen CPUs in most likely going to get the r5 4600 or 4600x as my current CPU is a 2600x my gpu is a Vega 56 flashed to 64 so the 4600 should work fine with it

Why don't you just get a new motherboard when you upgrade your cpu...?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

You're better off seeing what support your current B450 board gets for 4th gen. Otherwise, like noted, wait until you actually get the CPU to upgrade the board.

My thoughts right now are some board partners will opt specific models out of 4th gen compatibility since there were some very deliberate design choices from partners like MSI to make 4th gen ready boards, like the Max series

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Well I heard the next gen chips wont be fully supported on b450 so thought I'd upgrade now rather then later

Ok but that doesn't make sense... if you have to change the motherboard anyway you should wait to see what is actually supported by the CPU you're buying and by the time those release we'll have newer models you can choose from.

I wouldn't upgrade now, wait for those next gen chips to come out and see if your board supports the new chips, or if the new chips are even worth the upgrade.

Could the next gen chips be the same proformance as mine? Or only a little better so not worth the money ?

Thanks I'll wait it out and then get the board and if it's worth it the CPU

we don't know.

But since upgrading the board now won't help you might as well wait till we have more info.
