This is my problem:

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3339256925

Why Cablevision? Why have thou forsaken me?

Anyway, on to my real question. Will FiOS save my internet and not make me want to shoot myself? Im in NY, so no Fiber :( . Currently I cant even watch a Twitch stream or Youtube video. Literally nothing. I can barely stream Pandora.

Plea help

I pay 35Ltl which is 10 eur, or 14$

I'm either dumb, or there is simply no question in this thread, what's your problem exactly ?

He is asking if FiOS would be better. http://www.verizon.com/home/fios/

Your internet is perfectly for streaming for youtube, pandora, twitch, etc. Mine is slower and does all of that absolutely fine.

Nope. Constant buffering. If i'm lucky twitch will run on low. Even on my desktop, which isnt on wifi.

Your speed should be fine I pay for 20/2 but I get 16/1 and stream netflix in 1080p just fine so there must be somthing wrong with your router or computer.

Im not even on wireless... I dont get it.

Depends what package you get.

I was looking at the 75/35 package.

Your router is probably dying at that point.

I agree with AlwaysFSX.

I can't remember exactly what my speeds are but it's around 20 down and my up is horrible.. a measly 0.5 :(

I have no problem with youtube though and although I lag occasionally when playing starcraft for the most part it's playable.

I have the Linksys N900 smart router. My parents bought it a few months back.

Do you really think that's the problem?

What's your router because it's either garbage or your ISP is throttling the most ever I've ever seen which could be a result if your torrenting or somebody's on your wireless eating up your bandwidth.

Get a Netgear or Asus in the future. Linksys (now owned by Belkin) is making crap software on all their routers and really didn't want people to flash them so not OpenWRT or DD-WRT support as of yet . I had a similar problem, it would limit my wireless speed to 5Mbps on 2.4 and 5 Ghz. I would try doing a factor rest. The button is located under "troubleshooting" "Diagnostics".

Ok so saying I did get FiOS 75/35 and switched to their router. Would my modem be a limiting factor? I have a Motorola SBV5222.

Would I be able to stream on twitch with decent quality with that package?

Hmm, forgot about the modem... o.o' If you have a spare router or can get your hands on one swap them and see how your internet does with twitch and the like. If it improves then your router was the problem, if it doesn't then the modem is a POS. That's a good thing because Verizon should give you one of their own modems and that mitigates the problem entirely. Also you only need a 10Mb up to stream on twitch. 35 is more than enough.

Thanks for the input about streaming. And sadly my past router was a linksys as well. That is why we bought another. I figured Verizon would give us a modem.

I'm surprised ours still works, that thing is beat up like a 50's pickup truck.

This shouldn't be a problem as your ISP gives you a modem so it should handle the speeds.
