Wanting to build a pc like the ibm 5100 or osborne 1

Hi! I'm looking into starting a new pc project. Like the title says, I want to build something like the IBM 5100, Osborne 1, or like an HP model 85. Does anyone know if there is a company that builds a small case similar in size to these? Or something like it? Thanks. I realize these are very hard to come upon just to gut for a sleeper build, so If anyone knows a company making something like them, hit me up XD

I now want an IBM 5100 with working screen and keyboard so I can gut and put a PC in with a display available as second monitor.  But F that $91 shipping price (first google return) and its not working anyhow.

 

Looks like it can turn out pretty neat.

Ebay, theres a couple.  This one would be close to $250 not working.  Working (or mostly working) ones Im finding are over $1000 so out of my budget

See that makes more sense. You said 5100 above, and I was like holy ****. But these are newer, so it makes more sense. HOWEVER, That is still pretty much the body style I'm looking for Lmao

Yeah I edited comment a moment after - so no 5100s yet but yes if I could find one in that style for cheap enough Id F it.

Definitely. Been looking into what it would take to build a case like that, and only part that would be painful is trying to figure out the keyboard situation. Definitely would be a hard case to make

Oh definitely, and from what I've looked into, it would still be cheaper to mod a case rather than build one.

Wasn't my intention, but I totally love that reference. I actually planned that if I built one, I wanted a divergence meter built into the side XD

Really I saw the size of the machine, and it made me want to build something in that form factor
