I'm looking for a UPS for my workstation. I dont need long run times, just enough time to quickly save work and shut down the pc. I'm only planning to connect the PC and Monitor. I've emailed the sales team at CyberPower and I got recommended CyberPower PR2000RTXL2U. I know my rig is kind of overkill, but still dropping 1k USD on a UPS doesn't sound right to me.

CPU : Threadripper 3990x
GPU : MSI 2080Ti Trio
MOB : Zenith 2 Extrme Alpha
RAM: Trident Z neo 32G 3600MHZ Quad channel-CL16
STORAGE: Corsair MP600 1Tb Gen4 and WD RED 6TB Nas
PSU : ASUS Thor 1200W
AIO : Rog Ryujin 360 AIO

FANS : Cooler master MF120 fans x 7

Monitor : ROG SWIFT PG27UQ

I checked the power draw of just the PC through the PSU display during stress tests, it hits around 600-700W on load, unsure if there are times that it goes more than that. As for overclocking, its just running auto OC profiles from ryzen master and afterburner. What do you guys suggest for a UPS ?

Well they’re going to recommend you one of their products.  It’s how these things work. It’s clearly a showpiece.  No one needs 3 radiators for anything, especially if the gpu is on air.  The problem you have though is the thing draws a lot of watts.  If you stuck a $70 UPS on it the thing would choke and die trying to keep up with just the GPU draw.  The issue is the momentary load is so high you need an industrial system. It’s 3 times the draw of a standard desktop.  The “only a few minutes” thing doesn’t really enter into it because the only thing that can dump electricity that fast is a capacitor.   It’s going to be a lot of batteries no matter what.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

so there's no way around it? As in, the quoted price point ($1200) is what I should expect ?

It might be high.  If they built that thing there’s a decent chance someone is thinking “dude has more money than brains, let’s soak him” but one of those extra fat power strip things isn’t going to work for you either.  The problem is you’re above consumer level PSUs.  Prices jump up very fast after about 300w draw

Look on the internet for the standard ups companies I’ve got AOC.  I didn’t need an industrial one though.
