Is my PSU enough?

Go to solution Solved by Windows7ge,

If your PSU wasn't sufficient you'd be experiencing sudden shutdowns & restarts. A BSOD in relation to a PSU is more synonymous with a voltage rail dropping of randomly. Either way getting a new unit would be the fix.

I am nearing 500 Watts of PSU usage based on components alone.
I've been getting a few blue screens. My computer is outputting cold air & never crashes in games. Usually slow on Google Chrome and Firefox for some reason without system usage in task manager being bizzare so I'm wondering if maybe it's my PSU being insufficient or not.

AMD Ryzen 5 2400G

AS Rock B450 Pro 4

Geil Evo Potenzia 16 GB DDR4 3200 RAM

Wetern Digital blue 1TB HDD 7200 RPM

Western digital blue 4 TB HDD 5400 RPM

Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD

MSI R9 390 standard version

This was a 2nd or 3rd tier PSU when I bought it based on the strfmrx guy or however you spell his name.
It has since gotten lower on the tier list. Do I need a new PSU?

How much higher should my PSU Wattage be compared to my system's requirements?

Your symptoms don't guarantee a power supply problem. Sounds like a potential motherboard problem

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

My computer is becoming very unstable. I have no idea what's going on. I'm scanning everything & monitoring everything.

I don't have a second motherboard.

Motherboard problems can be really hard to diagnose, but you can do some things like reseat your CPU and RAM, and change where storage devices are plugged in.

I also see you have Integrated graphics so you can test without the GPU to see if the experience changes.

I’m running sound off a USB soundcard.

Ill try a few things. It’s not always consistent in what goes wrong nor when.

Im lurking the troubleshooting subsection to see what could cause common stuttering.

I whould run a memtest 86 on ram   or windows memory test..  try running on only 1 ram stick at a time. and see if it only happens if one of your two sticks are in..  assume this happens enough to  be predictable.

I ran the Windows memory checker after resetting my ram.

I think my motherboard may be bent. I used to keep my motherboard parallel to the floor with my big GPU in it.

Idk how good these pictures are.

Im going to bid my problems on a memory reseat. If I have further issues I’ll reseat my CPU & apply aftermarket thermal paste.

If i still have any problems I’ll do more testing.

Thanks everyone!!
