How do I get my hard drive to be detected in Disk Manager?

I've had my pc for about a month now and at first, I was able to have my hard drive detected, but then I didn't pay attention and now it isn't. When I go to BIOS I enabled the correct SATA ports and it detects the hard drive. But now when I go into Disk Manager or This PC the hard drive is not detected. My hard drive is the Seagate Baracuda 2TB HDD 7200 RPM. Please help me, I have spent hours on this.

Disk Management should see the drive regardless of weather or not it's initialized. Have you checked Device Manager? There's the possibility Windows may have disabled it due to a hardware error.

Crap, I thought I found it but it turns out it was the SSD. How do I get it found in here?

Well is the HDD *actually* being detected in BIOS?

If it isn't, then the power + data cables to the drive may be loose or disconnected.

Worst case scenario, HDD is dead.

 

If it shows up in BIOS, and *NOT* in Disk Manager or Device Manager...something is not right as well...

It should be under Disk Drives.

 

If it's not being recognized it might be under Other Devices.

I do not see it under here, I only my SSD and a device that says XVD, and I have no idea what that is.

If windows is outright not seeing it I would try connecting the drive either to another computer or try booting another Windows install.

I know this is really stupid but how would I boot another windows install? I'm pretty new to all this stuff so I would have no idea how to that.

XVD = Xbox Virtual Disk.

If you have any Xbox Play Anywhere games, the data files are stored onto that "drive".

 

As mentioned, check the different / other tabs in Device Manager, and see your HDD shows up anywhere else...

I would try just connecting it to another computer computer then. If it's easier for you.

So I just went into BIOS and changed it from the RAID setting or something and now I found the device in Disk Management, but when I go to storage settings it does not appear there for me to set save data. What do I do now?

Ohhh...you set the SATA ports to RAID Mode...

No wonder why...
