Considering a b550 board is plenty, the 3800x is a weird cpu not worth it's money normally and with this discount it's barely worth it too as a 3700x is still a lot cheaper and will perform the same if you just give it a nudge. I'd say just wait as those games will launch after both rtx 3000 comes out and ryzen.

3700x is ya 60 cheeper  and i was really debating on 3700 vs 38000.  to addresss pika the issue is what mobos aregoing for WAY over MSRP  this is good pice for the board..  som places areselling ti for 2-3 times what i can get it at MC for (MC dos't pice gauge why i love them)

i am kinda have my heart set on x570 over b550  due to the fact i work for a SSD drive maker  any i really want that extra full speed m.2 slot..

Then I'd say get the board but not the cpu as 60$ extra for a 3800 is so not worth it. Then again prices will balance out as well things are launching in a couple months and more will be available by then. Also just so you know b550 does support pcie 4.0 so your ssds will run at the exact same speed as on a x570.

Looking aside how useless PCIe 4.0 is for SSDs outside of 1-2 different drives that cost more than your current budget.

B550 gets 1 4.0 m.2

Some mobos are, but looking at one retailer price gauging doesnt mean much if others are offering for less.

Besides, if you dont find your performance lacking. Why upgrade?

Furture proofing for shadow lands and cyberpunk.  my current rig is just above min and for both and i have found min means < 30 fps a lot of time.

Future proof at the launch of the game? It's coming out after both ryzen refresh and rtx 3000 so you have plenty of time to get much better value new stuff.

only has 1 full speed m.2

Do you need more?

X570 technically only has 2 full speed unless you want to take PCIe lanes from the CPU, which you can do on B550 aswell.

i have checked either has less usb

There are B550 boards with decent ammount of USB, but i assume none has the ammount you want.

Can allways tune settings.

Besides, why not wait the shortage out.

Get some extra money to put into a better GPU, as CPU usually isnt the limiting factor.

Also none of those need PCIe 4.0. nor do any titles that are comming in the future due to SLC limitations. As even the fastest drives have to slow down at some point
