Question about low budget gaming build

I was watching an older LTT vid on budget gaming with my sister, where the budget was around $800.

First off my sister says Luke is a giant compared to Linus and much cuter. (complement from her to Luke)

Secondly why get an apu as a place holder then upgrade to a gpu?

Why not get a good cpu and an older gen gpu then save up for a good gpu?

Wouldn't that be more reasonable?

I mean i know ryzen would have had some kind of ryzen r5 1400 or r5 1500 with better IPC compared to the R5 2400g apus? right

I was listening to Linus say the apu had to share ram storage as gpu wouldn't that slow down the system?

Which is a better option

CPU + GPUs(last gen gpu)

APU + GPU later on

How old was the video...?

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

They were talking about how great the ryzen r5 2400 I think that was first gen Ryzen so the 1050ti/750ti would have been around.

Oooh; that's old... there's a lot changed since that was 'current'.

$800 may not afford you a graphics card - it could, depending on what else you pick.

R5 2400G is a 1st Gen APU, even though it is a 2xxx CPU.

Ah OK I understand but I still many cheap second hand 1060s in my area shops at like $140sgd isn't that a good budget card?

Try this as a starting point; the only variable is the case (it shows one picked, but if you click the first link you'll see it's not a firm choice), as that's mostly personal.

2nd hand cards are down to how much you trust where you get them from...

Now Linus is having a lifestream to give you a few ideas about it
