Is XMP working?

Go to solution Solved by Tristerin,

Use CPU-Z to validate what the RAM is running at - what CPU?  what board?  Are the DIMMs in the correct slots?

EDIT - yes half of the value is the correct display, DDR stands for Double Data Rate so you take that number times two so in your case you are looking for 1600mhz

Hi all,

Just got a new Ryzen system up and running. I got some G.Skill 3200Mhz memory, but when I first booted up it was running at 2133.

So I went ahead and enabled the 3200MHz XMP profile in the BIOS, but I can't tell if it's working.

Task manager still reports it's running at 2133, and both CPU-Z and Ryzen Master are reporting 1066MHz (half of 2133 -- what's the deal here?). These are the same with the profile on or off.

Does this indicate XMP isn't working? How can I tell the actual memory speed?

Thanks!

Maybe try downloading HWInfo and click on the memory info. What often happens is that these softwares read the product you are using and they load the default values for that product instead of reading what your speed is.

Ah yep, I missed the "XMP-3200" column on the timings table in CPU-Z, shows 1600MHz. HWInfo says the same, 1600MHz XMP.

Also kind of embarrassed I never knew this! Thanks guys.
