The Prime X570-Pro will offer pretty much everything you need, including power delivery that's capable to handle even a 3950X with PBO.

The X570-E has slightly better VRMs and Wi-Fi (compared to the Pro), and the Hero has a POST code readout. Well it also has some more overclocking related features, as well as even higher-end power delivery than the X570-E, but unless you plan on doing subzero overclocking, it's not like you're going to need those extras anyway.

If I am going to do this much research before every single goshdarn build I guess I should put it in one thread. Welp, here we go!

Hello again! This time it's about the motherboard! Should I get an ASUS ROG Strix X570-E gaming or a ROG Crosshair VIII Hero?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X

GPU: ASUS ROG 2080 Super

Cooler: Deepcool Captain 240 Pro V2

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB

OS: Microsoft OSX Pro (sEE WhAT I diD thErE?)

Thanks again!

EDIT: Other options: Crosshair VIII Formula, Prime X570 Pro (It is required for me to get an ASUS motherboard for compatibility reasons.)

Why only these two options ?

What about a b550 tomhawk mag or a x570-p

You don't need an overkill board

If you're planning on overclocking, it might be worth it to go for an X570 board (better VRM cooling, power delivery, etc), but both those options are pretty serious overkill. No reason to pay a premium for features you can't see yourself using.

Quick sidenote: almost all PC component prices (at least in North America) are pretty inflated right now due to COVID-19. I'd recommend you use the price history tool on PCPartPicker before you buy, so you know you're not being overcharged.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

I still am not 100% sure on this

But doesn't matter

To answer your question the formula is better technically but get the cheaper one
