Change gpu thermal paste?

Go to solution Solved by Farhan_,

Guess what? Re-application of mx4 brought down the max temperature by TEN DEGREES :D (now averages around 68-69°C from 78-79°C). Had to apply a bit more than what I'd apply normally for a gpu, though. Even the stock thermal paste was overflowing from the gpu die, I didn't see a problem in this. Cheers!

I recently bought a Galax GTX 1660 Super and I am not too happy with the thermals. While gaming/furmark, it reaches a max of 77°C inside the case and 75°C outside. Ambient temperature where I live is 25 – 30°C. I was wondering if replacing the stock thermal paste with Arctic MX4 2019 would bring down the max temperature, even by 3 – 5 degrees. From your experience, what would you suggest? Thanks!

77C isn't very horrible.

But a fresh MX-4 should improve it.

I edit my posts more often than not

Not really. Nothing wrong with 77c Max temps. Good temps honestly.
