NVMe drive booting?

Go to solution Solved by Zagna,

Reinstall Windows with only the NVMe drive connected, bootloader got installed on the other drive.

So I sprung for an NVMe SSD and got windows installed onto it but cannot boot from it directly.

I can boot into windows but when i try to fully wipe my old ssd with cmd/Diskpart it tells me i can't wipe the drive with the OS on it. After "wiping" (which it doesn't) I restart and it boots into windows recovery mode. I enter the BIOS and the only boot drive is my old SSD and selecting it boots me into windows even though there is no OS on it. I feel like I'm missing something entirely, is it possible to boot from an NVMe or is this some sort of dependency thing that is happening where it requires a secondary drive to actually boot from? My OS is install on the NVMe.

I just recently built a second PC as a server that I also have an NVMe drive in (which is where i decided my main rig should have one) and that one had no issues and boots while never having an issue.

Is there anyway around this? I'm not really trying to reinstall windows again (done it 3 times already) and over the course of the last couple days of just tinkering with it I've also gotten all my programs and such back to the way i liked them. I mean i have a backup server now so it won't be the biggest issue but I'd like to avoid it if i can.
