Hard Drives in a Phanteks P350X

So I recently swapped over to a Phanteks P350X for my case and I have been having quite of bit of trouble getting my HDDs to fit into the cases Hard drive bay comfortably. I can get the Drives in fine but than getting the cables routed is an absolute nightmare and I feel like I'm going to snap the SATA cables just getting them in, is there something I'm missing or is this case not well designed for HDDs?

It does look like an awkward run from the front of the drive, round to the right & up through the holes/grommets above the cages... Hardware Canucks were equally baffled by the space available for 2½" drives, mounted behind the motherboard tray...

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?
