Wanting to do a plex server and start storing all my dvds on it to be able to use the plex app on Apple TV in my room. However haven’t done dvd ripping at all and some of the movies are blue rays. What software do you all use and is there an issue with quality when doing dvd ripping ?

can you download offline content from plex server ?

thanks again for the feedback !

I used MakeMKV and handbrake when I converted my bluray library to digital.

If your Plex server is local to your network it'll work offline.  You can also use the plex app to download content from your plex server to the local device.

Appreciate it ! Any issues with quality or viruses from those softwares ? Are they free ?

No issues.  Both are free;  MakeMKV needs a new beta key once a month.  Plex is free unless you want to use their mobile app then you need to pay.

If I’m using an external dvd ripper is there one specific for blue ray ones or any external DVD burner / ripper ok ?
