Hi everyone,

as i mentioned before i am bulding new PC for virtualization this year. So far i purchased:

- Gigabyte 570 Aurus pro

- Be quiet Straight power 11 550w

- Samsung NVME 970 evo plus 500gb

- 2x 1tb wd blue 7200

- Dark rock 4 slim CPU cooler

- 3x Pure wings 120mm fans

But as goes for Memory and CPU i still am not sure. For the CPU i am leaning towards of R7 3700x or maybi R5 3600x (probably 3700x because of cores ), but as goes for ram i have no idea. OR should i find some good deal on 3900x ?

I want to have 64gb of ram and i found  bellows kit for like 300eu in my country.

Ripjaws V DDR4 64GB PC 3200 CL16 G.Skill KIT (2x32) F4-3200C16D-64GVK

Should i buy 2x32gb or 4x16, should i invest ~50eu more for RAM to buy better clocks ? I want to have 3200mhz 64gb.

Thanks, BR Rok

 The cheaper one

In terms of bandwidth both will be at dual channel so no difference there

You will more likely get better speeds with 2x32 gigs because it's less work for both the imc and the interconnect

The 3700x is a sweet spot

If you can find a 3900x for around 400-350ish bucks ( from what I can see this is what it usually goes for ) and you can afford it

Go for it , if you can't go for the 3700x

As for the 3600x , don't consider it , get a 3600 if you want something like it

It has the same ipc and fpu

I dont know what type of work load or how heavy it will be

But for virtualization , I guess go for the 3700x and above

i would rather go with 3900x and 32gb ram than 3700x and 64gb ram. I can't think of any scenario where a home user would need more than 30gb ram. and with ryzen it's always better to have 2 sticks, not 4

Yes i will need 64gb ram. Vcenter alone will required 10gb of ram, and then dns, mail, web server, windows 10 ( 8gb ) and free nas ( 8gb ) and i want to have some space for testing.
