So er guys... I got an AOC e2070swn from the dump for a budget render server. It appeared fine at first, but it had those weird dark and bright patches over it.

What can this be caused by? is it water between the lcd panel and the backlight?

The spots don't move when I press on them.

kind of answered your own question.

"dumps" generally aren't known to really care about protecting items from things like rain or moisture, that is unless it was given to them like that, then who knows;

  • kids
  • dumb people
  • angry people
  • flooded house
  • water came through roof

i get it

but it looks like water, right?

is it on top of the lcd or under it?

if under, maybe can simply wipe it off (dismantle it completely)

if on top (the coating), you can replace the polarizer.

its under the lcd. Im half way through voiding its warranty. I don't really trust myself on not ripping the ribbon of the lcd. Im just gonna use a hairdryer and silicon desiccant.

no don't use heat for lcd, it will toast the outer layer.

if it's still in warranty, go try to fix it, water damage is expensive, but since it's still warranty, you may get a discount.

i see.

lcd screens have multiple layer the top one is 90degree polarizers.

under the lcd glass, you'll find the 0 degree polarizer and a backlight diffuser.

all of them are cheap to replace, like $10 each it will be good as new.

have to be careful not to brake the glass.

It's fixed. There was a lot of water between the diffusion layers and the acrylic

Thanks
