Late CPU Initialization

My last thought is the following:
The CPU aint a normal 1151 socket, but a FCLGA2011-3. The Cooler doesnt fit over the whole CPU and a few cm of the CPU are not touched by the cooler on the right side. My question therefore is, could this have something to do with the Problem? Could it be, that the right side of the CPU isn't in perfect fit with the socket and therefore the pins are too loose sometimes (which could explain that the pushing of the cooler helps)? Is this a thing? :'D But if so, why did it work for the past 5/6 years and is now causing problems?

yes that may be the problem, the pins are loose from aging, but also from previous installation that is over tightening the heatsink.

solution would be getting a x99 compatible with mounting screws, and put the same pressure as before.

Hey Guys,

a friend of mine had trouble powering up his computer for a few days now. Today, I tried troubleshooting it but couldnt get a hang of why it is as it is. Therefore, I was hoping that I could find some help here :)
Following are the specs:

Mainboard: MSI Gaming 7 X99S (MS-7885)

CPU: Intel i7-5820k 3.30GHz
Cooler: Scythe Mugen (don't know exactly which one)

Following is the Problem:
When he powers up the PC, the Mainboard throws out a failure (Code: 6F) which indicates a late CPU initialization. The PC then runs into a endless restart cycle while trying to boot. Interesting is, that this doesn't happen every single time, but quite frequently (he has to try like 5 - 7 times before it normally boots). But, everytime he pushes the Cooler against the CPU a bit, the Computer starts without any hesitation and then works perfectly fine.
Therefore, my first thought was, that this thing just needs a little tightening (since its around 5 or 6 years old). I then unmounted the cooler (and saw that the screws are kinda loose), swapped out the Thermalpaste (which looked pretty nasty and thick as well, definitely needed the swap) and put it back on, tightening the screws as good as possible. But, same thing happened again. Same Failurecode, same behaviour when pushing the cooler a bit onto the CPU.
We were trying to POST it with as little hardware as possible, trying to see if it is actually the CPU or something else (GPU, RAM, etc.). Nothing helped, same behaviour as before.

My last thought is the following:
The CPU aint a normal 1151 socket, but a FCLGA2011-3. The Cooler doesnt fit over the whole CPU and a few cm of the CPU are not touched by the cooler on the right side. Does anyone of you have another solution that we could try to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings,

Josh

Thanks for the fast Replys.

@SupaKomputa So, something like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 (if i get some extra mounting screws for that thing) should be fitting, right? I also found the Noctua NH-D9DX i4 but that's quite expensive tho :'D Shouldnt be too pricy, cause its an old PC and probably gonna be swapped for a new one in a year or sth.

@TofuHaroto Tried that, didn't solve the issue :/

No, as i recall the original hyper 212 is not designed for x99. The one with the plastic mount.

Hm, interesting. Cause that's one of the first to show up when i google for that :D
What about the be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black? The technical details of the be quiet! cooler at least shows the LGA 2011-v3 socket in their supported socket list.
