im selling my 1050 to get a 980 and i dont know if its worth it or not

so the price of that 980 is like 50$ 

im getting it from someone in a site like ebay so i can refund if it didnt work 

driver support is something im worried about it will end shortly and my second option was a gtx1060 and if i want to get that then i need to wait for another year to get a second handed card for a good price (everything is 4 times the real price in our country so cant go for highend cards)

still 980 is a good upgrade but is it actually worth it? because its kind of a downgrade in generation

A 980 for $50 is a steal. You're comparing the lowest end of one generation to the highest end of the previous generation. It's going to be at least a 50% increase in performance.

A gtx 980 easily has the same performance as a 1060. As long as you're sure it works and all, a 980 for that price is a great option

If your PSU can satisfy that 200w class card then sure go ahead. The 980 is no slower than 1060 6gb

980Ti and Titan X are upset

I wouldn’t go for a Maxwell card this late on as a main GPU unless its a 980 ti or Titan X (Maxwell) as they are unlikely to get driver optimizations for new games in the future. And at least going with a flagship card from the 900 series you could brute force your way through some games.

 

That is unless you plan on using it as a stop-gap gpu, in that case it’s not bad for $50.

i have a cooler master 650 watt 80+ gold because of 6 hard drives i had and i was worried so im guessing its still enough
