We don't really know for certain. Maybe b450 was just selling way too well.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Either this or maybe they wanted to get dmi 4 on cheaper chipsets but didn't come around to it

No one really knows

Or maybe they wanted to compete with lga 1200

why b550 release later than x570?

It was made by different companies.

If my memory correct, x570 was made by AsMedia (the same company that did x470 and b450) while AMD made the B550 in-house, with their own licensed controllers (sata, usb etc).. so it took a bit more time to make the chipset from building blocks and have it tested, validated etc

edit: sorry, the other way around ... x570 was made in-house by AMD, B550 and supposedly a B520 are made by AsMedia for AMD ...

If was supposed to be released a few months ago, but it got delayed, my guess probably because Ryzen 3xxx was too successful and x570 was selling and b450 boards were still available on the market, so why no clear the shelves of the old models.

They probably also delayed it a bit in order to launch it at a better time (back to school, after tax rebates etc)... but corona happened and got even more delayed .... now it's a good time because Ryzen 4xxx will soon show up, so there's cheaper b550 and more expensive x570 (in theory)
