Far Cry 3 help.

Go to solution Solved by warmmilk,

Well... now I feel silly... I found out why it's only at 30 fps... It's becasue I had vsync on.

Lol... Well to be fair, nobody else on this forum caught that either...

I'm running Farcry 3 on my new PC and I'm only getting 30fps at max graphics, I thought I'd be getting more does anyone know of anything I might be doing wrong?

if you have msaa set at anything above 2x that would be why. even at 2x your framerates will be below 60fps in most cases with that gpu

FC3 is a big stinking pile of bugs...

It ate my savegame about 10h into the game...now i did find how to fix it, but that means that i have to replay the first part of the game then exit it and i have my save back, but when i normally start up the game, its just not there

so im guessing its this pile of garbage that they call a game

yeah i get around the same, this  game has a stupid amount of grass in it meaning putting on AA is worst then in normal games, as a result put it to 2xmsaa, its not amazing but the game still looks really great

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, I got about the same, a little more, on a system with the same specs apart from the 8350 instead of the 8320.

Far Cry 3 in general is quite a difficult game to run.

My cpu is running at 33% I don't know how to check how much my Gpu is running.

download gpu-z and then click on the Sensors tab

I saw a bunch of posts about your cpu, so I thought I'd mention its fine, its more your 760.  not that there's anything wrong with your gpu, its just that FC3 is poorly optimized for PC, as most Ubisoft games are.  Even my 780 was struggling to hit 60 fps on 4x AA and everything else maxed out on the previous nvidia drivers.  Try updating your drivers, mine jumped upto 70-80 fps after as opposed to 40-50 before.

You can also try getting GeForce experience, you can choose graphics optimizations levels, performance to quality, and it'll set up the game for you.  you can play around with that if you don't wanna mess with your graphics settings manually.

I've updated all of my drivers, I believe. Also I use the Geforce experience.

it could just be thats all your graphics card is able to put out in FC3.  if you want more FPS have Geforce experience optimize more for performance rather than graphics quality

Not helpful.

OP, you may just have to turn down your graphics settings. FC3 is relatively demanding, even for newer hardware.

Easy fix, drop filtering to x2. With all the foliage running filtering in FC3 requires a good bit of grunt.

are you running those same exact graphics options?  if yes, it looks like your cpu might be bottlenecking you a bit after all.  did you have a chance to play FC3 with GPU-Z running?  are you seeing 98-100% max load?  the little down arrows next to the field are pull down menu's.  set those to max and see what kinda load you're getting on the gpu and what your core clock goes upto.  if gpu load is under 98% then your cpu is bottlenecking your card.  if this is the case, is your cpu overclocked? if not, overclock it and see if that helps.

another thing to consider is the actual run through they used to get the benchmark.  certain parts of the game are less demanding then others, it could just be that they used a less depending part of the game...

I sahlldo more testing when I get home, would the resolution of my monitor mater? I have a 1400 x 1050 monitor.

yes, you should be getting better frame rates since you have less pixels...  this is a no brainer, but I'll say it just in case, make sure thats what your in game resolution is set to also.

you may need to update your bios, as your standard motherboard bios may not be vishera ready. (pcpartpicker also notes that there may be compatibility issues)

just in case

http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/detail.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=M5A97%20R2.0&cpu=FX-8320(FD8320FRW8KHK,3.5GHz,8C,125W,rev.C0,AM3+)&pcb=ALL&sincebios=1006&memo=

either way, 760 is not strong enough for maxed out graphics in some newer games

not saying his bios isn't out of date, but if he bios version didn't have the vishera stuff on there his pc wouldn't even turn on.

I think my bios is out of date. But I don't exactly know how to fix that problem.

your motherboard manual will tell you how to do it.

can you overclock on your motherboard?  I've never had an AMD cpu, so I don't really know the chipset properties...  does the 970 OC?
