I'm planning to get a new ultrabook in near future. I definitely want something that will be of a good quality that can last few years without worrying too much about it. My hard limit is $1700-1800, however $1400-1500 pricing would be much better.

So far I've noticed XPS 13 seems to be the best in the category, however I'm located in Poland and will most likely relocate to China in September to continue my studies and price of this one doesn't really make sense in any of these two countries. It's price is well above $2000 here.

Therefore I've been looking at Huawei Matebook X Pro, the i7 model with 16GB of ram costs in China somewhere around $1,400 which is much cheaper compared to how much the XPS would cost me. There is one thing that I'm not so sure about. Is LPDDR3 ram something that I should be avoiding right now or is it futureproof enough for few coming years?

So far everything else seems to be pretty good but hit me with your opinions!

What do you think? Should I go with the Matebook X Pro, something else or maybe are there any other worth attention ultrabooks coming in the near future?

I don't think so. Especially with current travel limitations.

That's for the better. The XPS models still suffer from heat issues, latency issues and frequent BIOS problems. They aren't stable long term and really should be avoided.

Consider a ThinkPad X1 Carbon if you want a reliable and good quality laptop

Yeah, they should be coming out later this month. Don't know what pricing will be like in Poland. In the US, Lenovo massively inflates the price in the beginning and then show off how much of a discount they're giving people. The price for the Intel version of the T14 dropped by about $600 from where it started out. I also would not recommend custom ordering. Lenovo takes forever to fulfill those, even before COVID-19 was a thing.
