A Few Extra Questions About My Console Gaming Setup...

Well, ever since my last post here, I received a buch of answers & I am extremely grateful for everyone who helped me out & gave their advice/opinions/tips/suggestions! :) But there are a few topics that are still left unanswered. Hopefully someone might be able to help me out with that. So here are my questions about my future console setup:

1.) I'm most likely going to be getting a PS3 & it will only be for 1 game which is a special collection of certain games for the PS3. I'm wondering if it would be somewhat pointless if I were to upgrade the Hard Drive to like a Sata SSD if I simply wanted smoother performance & better load times, etc.? Or would it actually be worth it depending?

2.) Also, on my games wishlist, I noticed there are some titles that can only be acquired digitally now with no physical copies apparently available anymore. With that being said, these games will be running via my gaming pc. However, I'm not sure what I should go with as far as a controller is concerned. I know I would at least prefer something that's built very well, & is wireless. Links to the games will be provided should you need more info.

Thanks to anyone who can help! :)

For the PC controller - just about any controller that works with the XBOX One should work.   The best built will the MS Xbox one controllers.

You are asking about the PS3 - not the PS4, right?   The components are quite different between the 2 and I want to make sure I am answering correctly.

Yes. I clearly stated earlier that I'm after a PS3. As for the controller I can use with pc, I would appreciate more suggestions & all that! Besides, I don't have any Xbox consoles on my wishlist anyway.

Sorry, but I wanted to make sure since the PS3 is a very old console now.   The PS3 only has a SATA 1 connection (really slow) so any improvement with a SSD will be minor and not worth it in my opinion.

Just buy any xbox one wireless controller in the color you want.  Here some details on how it works:

Here are some other wireless controller  options:

I haven't used any of them specifically but they all should work.

Alright. But would an Xbox 360 controller work just fine too? I made the same post on the Level1Techs forum & someone suggested I could use the 360 controller. Just not sure if it's my best option. I would appreciate it if ANYONE with experience could help clarify this... :)

The Xbox One controller takes everything that is good about the 360 controller and makes it better.  Stay away from third party controllers for the most part, since they tend to be rather sub-par.

The best thing about buying a recent XB! controller is that it works seamlessly under windows 10, either wired or, if your PC has it, over bluetooth.  Also, it can be paired through bluetooth with most mobile phones, allowing it to double as a mobile controller.

So as far as Xbox products go, is the Xbox One controller considered to be "the best" if you wish to use it with pc?

Yes.  You don't need drivers or software to make it work with Windows.  It is also better built that the PS3/4 controller and very ergonomic.

OK. But is it better than the Elite controllers by chance? Or does it depend?

1. On a PS3, an SSD can make a very SLIGHT to practically no difference in load times. Not enough for it to be worth it for that alone. I use SSDs in both mine (and all of my PS4s) but that's primarily for reliability.

2. I just use XBOX One controllers for any gamepad-centric PC games. Plug and Play and most games recognize them. Just a note, if you use the wireless adapter, there's some games that won't work right with it, but often they work just fine if you plug the controller in with a USB cable. I play a lot of JRPGs and many, especially smaller, lesser known titles often won't work with the wireless adapter. Don't know why exactly. I think it has something to do with the fact windows treats the adapter as a network device instead of a controller.

It won’t be better than the Elite controller. But the Elite v2 is 229cdn, and that is a pretty hefty price. It is, in my opinion, worth it. I have one.
