Hi everyone,

Building my first build and I have been waiting for B550 just so I have a good upgrade route in the future.

Is it worth or should I just get a b450 for now and get a b550 when the price drops?

B450 will support zen 3 with a beta bios

If you need a PC now get b450 if you can wait then wait for b550

They will most likely have a more robust vrm solution

Wait. The B550 boards are a substantial upgrade and closer to what X470 is in terms of quality and features

also come with price premium.

Are you talking about x470 or b550?

B550 will cost just slightly more than b450 and will offer dmi 4 with the cpu and a more robust vrm solution paying the extra 20 dollars is worth it imo

I'm stuck in limbo right now with my PC upgrade-- I have a CPU (Ryzen 5 3600), RAM, and a new case but no motherboard.

The impatient part of me has been scouring Microcenter, Newegg, and other sites on the off-chance a decent motherboard becomes available. The rational part of me just says to wait until the B550's are released in less than a week.

That all said, I tracked down a Microcenter that has an Aorus Elite Wifi X570 in stock for $210. It would be a 4-hour drive round-trip.

Is that a decent enough motherboard or should I just wait for the (cheaper) B550's?

I'd like to go for the B550 Tomahawk, which should be about $30-40 cheaper.

I'm also just wondering about in-stock availability for the new boards on launch day. It may be a bloodbath/free-for-all!

It's a decent board but b550 will have better options that are cheaper

Cool deal. I was a little put off by the fact that the Aorus Elite didn't have USB-c. Not a deal-killer but a little disconcerting at that price point.

On a side note, what really kicked all of this off was my wanting to move my current rig (i7-3770K) into a new case. I bought your current fave, the Meshify C!

This will be my first AMD build for myself (I did build a PC for my brother in 2003 and used an Athlon XP 2600). I had always gone with Intel previously and at least one of those times I definitely should have gone AMD.
