Since this is my first post, here is a teaser for the project I'm working on:

nt01-pro-dimension.jpg

is going onto    \/   this motherboard   \/

XbKMgnqAaX3xwgNi_500.jpg

to clearly define the extents of Length, Width, and Height for entire build.

An Asus GTX670 MINI will go on top with direct exterior cooling.

Main question is, since my handmade case will pass heat from the RAM through the CPU cooler, just how much heat will the RAM produce at various voltages?

Theoretically will that heat be enough to offset heat for a higher CPU clock?

Have not yet tested my 4770K, Batch# L323C544... fingers crossed on low heat for marginal overclock.

Here is my current basic part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2ZZKn

Although SilverStone's NT01-PRO cooler claims 150W CPU TDP and seems high, it is much larger than expected.

Potential candidates for RAM are: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/300N9
2x8GB | 1866 | 8-9-9-24         | @1.6V     G.SKILL Trident X Series

2x8GB | 1866 | 9-10-9-27       | @1.5V     AMD Radeon™ Performance Series

2x8GB | 1866 | 9-9-9-24         | @1.5V     Crucial Ballistix Tactical
2x8GB | 2133 | 10-12-12-31   | @1.6V     G.SKILL Ares Series
2x8GB | 2133 | 9-11-11-31      | @1.6V    G.SKILL Trident X Series
2x8GB | 2400 | 10-12-12-31   | @1.65V  G.SKILL Trident X Series

Each were selected based on clearance, CAS latency, voltage, and capacity for RAMDisk, but if you have a better suggestion let me know!

After scouring the internet for case configurations, I came to the conclusion that my build will not only outperform any similarly sized build, but at just over 4 liters it will fit within a case less than half the volume of the the smallest cases on market!

This will be the most up to date computer I have ever built/owned and spent 6 months researching specifications and waiting to buy parts at the right times.

The PSU could be slightly moved around, flipped, or altered for better airflow and is not the immediate concern in this buying decision.

Looking forward to seeing at least 1 NVME SSD hit market since their specifications were developed back in 2011; even though it won't be M.2.

I will read every reply so let me know what you think about my heat concerns/build.

Linus, had you mentioned a way to promote y'all by making purchases on Amazon via URL or promo code?

Thought I did, but having a hard time finding that information!

You don't have to worry about the heat output of your RAM, especially if you're not going to add extra voltage. After stressing my RAM (G.Skill TridentX 2400MHz @ 1.65V) with Aida64 for half an hour, the DIMMs were barely warm to the touch even with my case fans turned off.

Unrelated to your question but... how big is your case and what will the airflow be like?

Thanks jimmyd!

I will take 1866 G.Skill for 8CL.

Unfortunately, the exact size of the case I am building will be determined by the components and will take some imagination to see without a finished product.

That being said and after recalculating volume, it will be closer to 5 liters with rough measurements of: 140mm(wide), 180mm(long), 200mm(tall)

The entire rear is filtered ventilation, including power supply, and exhaust front CPU cooler, adjacent to I/O panel.

Filtered top for video card will exhaust radially into open air.

It will be hot and overclocked based on those thermals...
