I have 3200mhz 16GB (8GBx2) - I seen on amazon the set I bought is on sale again.

Would I really get much better performance going from 16GB of RAM to 32?

Specs:

Ryzen 5 3600

X570 chipset

Nitro+ RX5700XT

16GB RAM 3200mhz

You won't see much of a performance increase, if any, even if the clocks are higher/ CAS latency is lower. Is it mroe future-proof? Yes. Is it worth it today? Not hardly.

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

matters what you do. cus I leave too much stuff open while running memory heavy things like cod or video editing the move to 32gb helped and was worth it

There's no performance increase unless what you're usually doing constantly exceeds 16GB of usage.

So, if you're gaming there's no benefit, there actually could be a downgrade to go 2x2 instead of 1x2 sticks configurations. If you are doing something else that's memory intensive, like rendering, benefits are there only if your project keeps requesting more than 16GB because in that case the "requested space" needs to go through your local storage which kills performance. You can test this on your machine and see if you'd gain something from the upgrade already.
