Old Hard Drive

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

Assuming you're moving from a Windows PC to another Windows PC here.

If you install windows on your new PC, just make sure you don't have your old HDD plugged in when you do so you can't accidentally wipe the drive.

Once the new PC is up and running Windows, just plug in your old HDD and it should be picked up right away and be accessible for you to move the data. You'd have to manually wipe the data, Windows won't do it automatically and if it detects it and wants to format it, it will tell you and prompt you first, it won't just go ahead and do it.

So I'm gonna transfer my old hard drive (1tb) to a new pc build I'm making but the hard drive still has data on it. What happens if I plug it into the new pc build will the hard drive wipe by itself or transfer the data over or would I have to wipe the data myself.
