I have a GoPro 5 Black. It has a micro HDMI output but my computer (which is where I want to connect it) has no inputs for video (as far as I know, (I built it myself a few years back) because last I checked you can't make a graphics card function as an input device). How would I go about connecting my GoPro to my computer? I think it'll have something to do with a capture card (that's all I know)?

sorry if this isn't the right place to make this thread it seemed to be appropriately on topic sorta.

Someone let me know if there's a broken link in this but this is what I understand from their guide:

1. Buy something like this https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/cam-link-4k (out of stock rn :/ ) (also it's $130)

2. Buy a cable like this https://www.staples.com/SumacLife-HDMI-to-Micro-HDMI-Cable-6-FT/product_2621491?cid=PS:GooglePLAs:2621491&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=2621491&KPID=2621491&gclid=Cj0KCQjwoPL2BRDxARIsAEMm9y_-EeDnqXukkb_FaLiueMJcMkleEPwLY3bt_BU_4gzYQlsZ_Mwo1DMaAjdzEALw_wcB

3. Change a couple GoPro settings and windows settings and you're good to go.

First of all that's a lot of money for a USB to HDMI converter xd so if anyone could find something cheaper that be dope.

second of all this sounds like it's too east to do.

Basically it says to put the camera where you want it. Then connect a micro hdmi-hdmi cable (like you linked) to the gopro then put the hdmi cable to a usb capture card (which are all around that price). Some settings need to be changed. You also need to keep the gopro plugged in.

I don't think there are any reliable capture cards for much cheaper but maybe you can find one i couldn't. What I use, is an app called epoccam on my phone which lets me wireless use it as a webcam. If you are interested in that, I can give you more info.

epoccam o

I've already bought the paid version of epocam and it works great! I've decided the GoPro webcam dream can wait because I'm not willing to dish out $300+ for the micro hdmi to usb capture card thingy. but thank you!
