Hello,

so I'm wondering if Chip Only cooling on GPUs makes sense. Lets say that my water cooling will last for about 6 years before something breaks, I would have changed the GPU twice by this time. That also means I've bought two water cooler blocks for my GPU, that also means then need to be sold and selling used water cooling parts isn't that easy. You also buy it for 120euros and sell it for half, so you make at least -120euros if not more. As far as I'm aware, water cooler blocks can be used for many years, right? I mean, I'm a gamer and will probably game even if I turn like 35 or 40 (15years more to go lol)

So I've thought about getting the EK Water Blocks EK-VGA Supremacy or Watercool Heatkiller GPU-X3 Core LC blocks and use them for a pretty long time.

Did anyone had any experience with Chip Only GPU coolers? I'm aware that I need to cool the VRM and vRam chips too, but for that I can use also universal coolers.

Well if you put tiny heatsinks on the VRAM and the VRM and have decent care airflow then the temps will be fine.

Look at coolers like the kraken G10 or corsair HG10, they only cool the core and use heatsinks for the rest of the stuff.

The universal chip only waterblocks do.

That's what this entire topic is about.

sorry I forgot that there are GPU blocks with adjustable mounting holes

but there is still a small chance that future GPUs won’t fit because the mountingholes for GPU  are are even farer apart than on the block ( I hope you understand what I try to explain )

but in the end the chance is very unlikely for that to happen

so you’re right

While the position of the GPU and PCB components moves around, the actual dimensions of the mounting holes around the GPU does not change between generations.
