I think the new windows update broke some games

I have a 2070 super and a 3700x. After updating windows I’ve noticed serious gpu utilization issues in gtav and Minecraft specifically with optifine installed so far. Other games like metro and modern warfare have no problems and run perfectly fine so I don’t think it’s hardware. When I play gtav or Minecraft the gpu utilization is seriously low, like it’s in the 50s-60s most of the time and rarely jumps up to 80. I checked my power plan settings, AMD SMT turned off, Nvidia control panel and still nothing. I also rolled back my gpu drivers to the third and second most recent ones and still nothing. I can’t think of it being anything else but the newest windows update. I’ve seen some other person post about this same exact issue in the same game (gtav) as well so it’s definitely not just me

Windows update is on crack, this is a well known fact, also, please, enable SMT, it really helps with multi core performance.

Also, are you using vsync in these games?

PSA: No, I didn't waste all that money on computers, (except the main one) my server cost $40, the intel NUC was my old PC (although then it had 8GB of ram, I gave the bigger stick of ram to a person who really needed it), my laptop is used and the second PC is really cheap.

I like tinkering with computers and have a personal hatred towards phones and everything they represent (I daily drive an iPhone 7, or a 6, depends on which one works that day)

Do you have the latest AMD chipset drivers?

I have smt on all the time. I just turned it off during testing to see if it would fix it but it didn’t so I switched it back

Major Windows Updates have tended to break GPU drivers in the past, and a driver re-install usually fixes it. I'd suggest giving it the DDU treatment and another install of latest GPU drivers and see if it helps.

Yes, this is true, funnily enough I once had to install the beta version of windows because the actual one was too buggy and caused random blue screens of death
