So I've been searching around for gpu parts and found one in a local online marketing website that sells an RX570 for 53$ less than its counterparts. Only mention that the product has is that its DVI-only. I'm currently new to the world of computers and I dont get what they mean. I may sound ignorant but can someone be a buddy and help me out about this topic? The difference between dvi and non dvi's gpus? Greatly Appreciated.

DVI is a connector used to transmit video. It is like an older hdmi. I have seen things where some cards only have it but it is rare, could you please link it so I can make sure it is not a mining card.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

it only has a DVI connector, so you'll need to use a DVI cable to connect it to your monitor. i'm guessing it's one of the mining cards that have a single DVI connector on instead of being completely empty.

DVI is a video connector that still has locking screws that you screw-in by hand. Looks like this:

DVIDDMMX.main.jpg

Most GPUs in 2020 do not have DVI, or only have one DVI connection among their display output options. DVI is a more archaic connection compared to HDMI and DisplayPort. HDMI does everything DVI can do (which is why you can have an HDMI to DVI cable that works both ways passively without a box in-between to convert the signal) but in a slimmer cable, it's more universal, and it natively supports audio. DisplayPort is more like HDMI, but handles higher resolutions and refresh rates, plus it has a locking connection.

It is unusual that a GPU would only have DVI. Maybe it's an engineering sample or a bitcoin mining card.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

The description is not opening up for me but the image shows a card with 1 dvi and what looks like multiple hdmi and display port.

It had more than just DVI video output port.

The PowerColor Red Dragon RX-570 has the following video ports:

  • 2x DisplayPort
  • 1x HDMI
  • 1x DVI

EDIT: Oh! There *IS* a Red Dragon RX-570 version, where is it ONLY ONE DVI Port.

@Zachary A.

53$ less is a very good deal. There's nothing wrong with DVI. Almost any full HD screen will support it.

If you have a more modern screen you might (or not) need a cheap ass adapter.

If you have a high end screen (240hz or 4k), you might be a little limited but it'll run pretty high anyway. Don't worry about it.
