Nice modem/routers?

Hello,

       My uncle is tired of paying for a crappy modem that actually delivers slower internet than his house gets. What are, or where can I look for, some good modems? It'd be nice if it also doubled as a router itself but that's not totally necessary

Are you sure the problem is with the modem and not something else? There are other factors that could result in slower than expected speeds including the router, the client devices, and the ISP itself. There is a reason ISPs often say "up to" whatever the rated speed is.

Whats the model of the modem he has from the provider? What speed package does he pay for? Cable modems are not cut an dry, there are 6 different types of cable modems that are generally in usage currently. What you need depends on what speed tier your planning on having and if you plan on upgrading.
