I'm looking at low end graphics cards to drive 2 1920x1080 monitors, specifically a GT 1030. I am replacing an old GeForce 8400 GS that I had laying around and threw in the system to boot. Lately the computer has been crashing. I looked up the 8400 on Amazon and it says it has a Max Resolution of 1920x1200'. The 8400 has a VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports. Does the Max Resolution mean that the combined maximum output can be 1920x1200 or is it 1920x1200 per port? I'm wondering if this could be the reason why the computer has been crashing ever since adding the second monitor.

It's the max resolution that can be achieved per digital port (VGA is analog, so it's what the DVI and HDMI can do max).

Should be per port.

Maybe there is another reason for the computer to start crashing?

Anyways when looking at the gt 1030s, make sure to AVOID DDR4 variant. Only GDDR5 variant is worth anything.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Didn't even know there was a ddr4 variant. I am looking at the Gigabyte Low Profile card that has 2GB of ddr5
