DAC (Schiit Modi) making insanely loud noise

TheSuperSawm

Hey LTT community,

I have something happening to my DAC upon startup which is kinda crazy and really loud in the ears. It sounds like mega static and it only goes away if i unplug everything and then plug it back in like a year later. Does anyone know what the cause is?

Check the video for the sound.

Thank you,

TheSuperSawm

That is weird. Maybe try to change all cables or clean them. Either that or you have to get a new dac. That dac is kinda old and outdated tbh.

PM or DM me if you have any questions about audio.

@Tigerleon @rice guru

Thank you both for the replies. It just seems that I have issues with the DAC so often that it is likely that I will have to buy a new one (unfortunately). I don't want to dish out the cash but whatever lol.

Thank you both again.

I'd message schiit and find out if they can do anything for you, I've not heard complaints about their customer support.

@The Flying Sloth Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure  what they would do for a six year old product, but it can't hurt to try, right? :)

Perhaps not but they may have advice on what went wrong and/or how to avoid it in future.

They may have infor on why it's happening and maybe a fix for it but you most likely will need a new dac
