Budget (including currency): 1500$ CAD, can go over if justified

Country: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: New gaming titles (DOOM Eternal, RDR2, etc. as well as new AAA games) + software development

Other details: i need 32GBs of RAM for software development.

Edit: also, how good of an idea is to not build a PC now and wait until new gen of GPUs and CPUs is in? how long would the wait be do you think?

If your budget cant go up then maybe you're not getting Nvidia's initial release of 3070 or 3080 (though that could mean a chance to wait till bugs get fixed) as they will cost too much. As for CPU, they work in current boards so you could always upgrade if the gains are huge.

I have 2 full hd 24 inches, might upgrade to something better in the distant future

Then unless you want to use RTX all the time for games, you dont have to wait for next gen stuff.

Somewhat cut back on GPU and board money to make the build over all more upgradable. Cut back on GPU because going up each level (say 2060 to 2060S to 2070) adds the price really quickly while even the weakest 2060 is above 1080p 60Hz gaming standards (100fps shouldnt be too difficult in all but the most demanding of today's games), cut back on mobo because Canadian prices for motherboards are completely screwed, no way I'm dumping $60 more for a board carrying $20 extra worth of components and production effort).

what if i pick 3600X instead of 3700x? i am not sure i will need extra cores, but saving ~150$ is substantial. or do you think 3700x iss a better choice?
