I need help fixing my PC

If anybody could help me try to figure out what issue i have with my PC i would greatly appreciate it. Let me give you a quick run down of my problem, about 8 months ago i spent roughly £1400 on a "gaming PC", ever since the day it turned up i have had issues with it, the main problem i have is that it drops frames too the point where my game freezes every 5 seconds (as if my components don't reach the minimum requirement for the game) i have been back and forth with the manufacturer who has insisted that it was the GPU that was the problem, so they sent me a new one to install myself, which i did with no problem. Absolutely nothing changed with this new GPU and everytime i play a game the same problem occurs. I'm not to clued up in the world of PC's so i am struggling to find out what is causing this, any help would be appreciated guys, thank you.

My apologies, i have a GTX 1660, i5 9500, 8gb Ram, is there anything else i should list?

No offense but the only spec you list is a $1400 price tag, which helps us not at all.

 

What is the warranty on the entire machine, can you return it and get your money back?

 

If that is a no, I would reinstall Windows and all drivers.  If you have issues, I wouldn't trust the prebuilt company for shit.  

 

Get software out of the way, then you can look at hardware more clear.

Yes, everything.  PSU wattage and model, case for airflow considerations, motherboard, etc.  Everything you possibly can.

Quote me so I can see your reply . What games and at what settings? (Texture quality, shadow etc) Could be that your settings are too high. If you are playing a game like COD Warzone that ram wont be enough and could lead to the problems you were talking about

I am trying warzone atm but i have turned all of my graphics setting down as low as possible

No SSD and 8GB of RAM are not good for modern gaming, as mentioned above.  I assume it's single channel as well.

 

For $1400 (US currency?) and those specs, it's very odd not to have an SSD.   I would upgrade another 8GB RAM and an SSD pronto if you're going to keep it.

 

FYI,  never shop at that merchant again please either.

Ok, i will look at upgrading my RAM and getting an SSD and it's is £1400 UK currency, i bought it from PCspecialist which i thought was a well trusted company but i am starting to second guess now lol

Well, they're a trusted legitimate company so you made a good call there.  You just bought a lot less than you could have gotten. 

 

I'd still reinstall Windows and drivers as well as getting RAM and an SSD.

Ok thank you for your help, one last thing, like i said i am not to PC smart so which RAM and SSD would you recommend?

What exact RAM do you have now?  I'd get a 1x8GB stick of the same specs, if not the exact same module.

 

For SSD, depends a bit on our budget.  But I would get at least a DRAM 240/256GB SSD for booting, if not a 500GB+.

 

How much money can you spend to spruce up your PC?

8GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2666MHz (2 x 4GB) is what i have now and realistically the most i want to spend is maybe £150 on upgrading both RAM and the SSD if possible.

Interesting, 2x4 not 1x8.  Maybe they aren't as bad as we thought. Do you have a 4 RAM slot motherboard?

It is my recommendation, but with a caveat.  Since you're running dual channel RAM (I assume they're in the correct slots), you should check your usage while gaming and see if you're nearing 8GB used.  This will make it clear that you need more.  I say this so you have a understanding of WHY I recommend it.  Tho I do think 16GB of RAM for gaming is a must anywway.

 

For SSD... there is no caveat.  It is an essential aspect of a PC these days, and willhave a drastic effect on your PC experience in Windows, apps, gaming, etc.

HDD coupled with AAA title coupled with Online play, likely single channel ram is the ongoing issue.  Warzone uses all 16 threads for me and keeps my CPU at 40-50% usage across all threads.  Oh and I can use up to 14gb of RAM with a browser, discord, and Warzone up.  (20gb typically but that's a lot of tabs open)

i had this problem before and after i reinstalled the drivers it fixed it.............

This might seem like a stupid suggestion, but are you actually connecting your monitor to your graphics card, or to the onboard graphics? If you're not sure, you can upload a picture of the back of your computer with all the wires connected.
