I bought a 5700xt strix edition an Im having really high memory temps I’m getting around 88c with fan speed on 50 percent with the Msi afterburner is this normal for memory temps?

No. Check if the cooler's properly mounted to the card.

wiggle the cooler from the PCB (after taking the card out of course), there should be zero wiggle room.

Is the core temperatures fine? Then maybe something to with the thermal pads. I have seen cases of plastic wraps somehow left on them (should be removed when installed)

Yea the gpu temps don’t go over 75c

there was problems with gddr 6 mem modules but that was an early issue i think it was micron modules i can recall i remember that samsung was the gun. try under clock your mem and see if that helps if you do have mem issues like i just described your mem will degrade pretty fast and youll start to get artifacting.

That card has an issue with the Strix cooler. I'd return it and get the Red Devil.

ASUS fucked something up with the 5700 XT Strix. They either used the wrong screws or didn't tighten them enough, and as a result the VRMs make somewhere between poor and no contact with the thermal pads. This causes insane temps on the VRMs.

I have the exact same card as yours and my memory can run high as well. I heard it has something to do with the earlier release of the Strix 5700xt not provided enough mounting pressure on the gpu core area causing the core ran up to 90c high. Asus increased the mounting pressure with the spring-load screws on the newer release of Strix 5700xt. While it reduced the temp on the core it also resulted in some heat transfer to its surrounding vram, heating them up!

 

My solution is to undervolt and underclock your gpu core and crank your fan-curve to max at max load. As your core generate less heat therefore, less heat will spread to your vram since there's no way to undervolt the vram voltage so far. I undervolt/underclock mine from the original 2100mhz/1199mv to 2050mhz/1120mv without effecting performance too much and manage to run my vram temperature at 78-81 degree after hours of intensive gaming.

Are you talking about the two screws on the end of the card where the VRM located? They are longer than they should indeed, but do they also effecting Gddr Vram temperature aside from VRM?
