I really like my Status Audio OB-1 which I currently use for work with my Modmic, however the cables are just too annoying. I've been looking around a bit but I haven't been able to find any over-ear open-back headset.

Technically it doesn't have to be a headset, but I haven't really found a different solution for online-meetings or gaming.

So to sum up my requirements:

  • over-ear
  • comfortable for >8h sessions
  • usable while charging or >12h battery life
  • open-back preferred (I want to be able to understand my gf when she's talking to me)
  • should cost less than $200
  • if possible a removable mic would be great but not necessary

Now that I write it out it almost sounds a bit too ambitious. Is there anything that fits these requirements?

Sennheiser hd599 or any other in the series. They are all pretty good. I use the dt 990 pros most often and I love them. Most comfortable and best sound for gaming imo. Dt 770 pro 80 ohm is more bassy and are pretty immersive but they are closed back.

And sorry if you are ONLY looking for wireless headphones. I never like them I don't know much about wireless stuff.

A good open back headset is the sennheiser game one.

PM/DM me if you have any questions about audio.

Thanks for the recommendation! I would use wired headphones if I saw any way to not have the cable in the way most of the time because that's what really annoys me at the moment. I have the cable as far back as possible but when I put my headphones down it still hangs down from the front of the desk and catches on my knee or similar. And then when I want to stretch (while sitting at the pc and leaning back) the cable pulls the headphones off from my head because it's too short. So if there's a better solution for that I would obviously choose that as I'm generally happy with my current headphones for everything except the cable.

Just get a hook of some sort and hang your cables on there. Worth it to get the best audio experience. Wireless tends to have worse audio quality.
