Hi guys! I want your opinion on a gpu choice. I was thinking of buying a R9 290(no x) or an R9 280x (in Europe the prices on Radeon cards haven't skyrocketed yet) but when I heard about the R7 265 coming out soon I thought to myself that a 300$ crossfire (150$ each) wouldn't be the worst idea ever. They should perform just as good as a 290 (or even higher maybe?). Am I mistaking? So I'm asking you guys for input on this matter. Also on an unrelated note do you think it's worth it if I wait for 14nm Broadwell or just buy a Haswell Refresh when it comes out in a couple of months? I didn't want to flood the forum with 2 threads so ... 2 in 1 :D. Thanks in advance guys!

290 will be better then 265 in crossfire

1. Always go with a single powerful graphics card over two less powerful ones, it just works better

2. If I were you I would just get Hazwell refresh over broadwell the difference won't be very noticeable like 1-3 fps max

Well what's the price of the 290/290X? If they are spiked like the ones in the US  then I suggest getting maybe a 780 for the price of a spiked 290X.

Always go for the better single card rather than two SLI/CFX'ed weak cards.

Yea I know one GPU is better but still the crossfire is like 300$ cheaper ... And about the broadwell you are probably right :)

it might be cheaper but the problems and disadvantages won't be worth it. You would have compatibility issues and increased temperatures/power consumption.

The temperature/power consumption isn't really that big of an issue with a 265 cf.

It's just cf issues in general and vram limitation that would make the 290 or 780 a better choice.
