7zip error. Please Help!

So... I am trying to make a backup of my Boot ssd using 7zip because every other way I have tried to backup creates a disk image file. But whenever I try to compress the drive, some folders such as "windows" and "program files (x86)" cannot be copied because access is denied. What should I do?

Yeah, that's what they're supposed to do. Why is that an issue?

Because Windows is literally using them right then to run the operating system your using! The reason that disk imaging software exists in the first place is because Windows won't let you yank files that it needs out from underneath it, so it locks them. Disk imaging software (at least in Windows) can use Volume Shadow Service so it can read an in-place, read-only copy of the drive so Windows can keep working at the same time.

Because that's not how you backup your drive. Use a proper backup software like Acronis or Macrium
