It's exciting.  Not really for the "launcing 'Muricans from 'Murica" angle, of course, but rather that this is a crewed spaceflight aboard a private capsule and rocket.  Somewhere, Sir Richard Branson is wailing, even as he's no doubt aware that space tourism won't come for a while.

Not being an American, I don't really care about the first American launch in a decade, per se - but Canada is heavily involved in NASA and the ISS, so it's still very exciting to have a private (non-Russian) company available to do Crewed space launches.

 

SpaceX is an amazing company doing amazing things.
