One of my PCs is having network issues.  While I can remote desktop into it and keep that connection, my connection to my server for network drives, seem to disappear and I am not able to get the connections back.  I uninstalled the IP stack and the client for Microsoft networks and rebooted the PC while I could see my server again and I was able to map a network drive it was only temporary.  I was considering doing a USB to USB connection but the PC wouldnt boot up with the connection.  I had to disconnect the USB connection.  I am hoping that it was the cable so I have ordered a new one.

So your setup is as follows?

PC 1 and PC2 can hold a stable RDP session?

PC 1 is losing mapped drivers to server

Can PC 2 connect to the mapped drives?

can you RDP or ping from PC1 or PC2 to the server?

What OS is server running?

Do you have a more complex home network with DHCP and DC setup or a simple file storage server only?

Is this only the case for the one client or do other clients also have very hit-or-miss connections with the server?

I can remote desktop into the server from my main pc which is pc2 i think.  I can ping as well even when the network drives are no longer connected from both PCs.  All 3 are on the same IP network and pc2 is windows 10 pc1 is windows 7.  The server is windows server 2019.  Yes PC2 can see the network drives. Yes the mapped drives become disconnected.  I hope I answered all of your questions. I do have dhcp on the network but none of these PCs or server are using it.  As I remote desktop into PC1 on a general basis.
