Was the Upgrade worth it?

Not really unless your 2700K was not a good chip overclocking wise the 2700K overclocked is a very strong chip still.

Mostly gaming but some video editing and work(word, excel, powerpoint, etc...)

I was able to reach 4.8GHz with my 2700k and 4.4Ghz (stable) with my 4770k. I barely notice a difference.

Personally I do not think you should have bought an i7 and just bought an i5 and enjoy the superior single threaded performance and newer chipset. But I do not think it was that bad of an upgrade.
