Hello Linus Tech Tips Forums!
I am slightly new to understanding computer specs and have been watching lots of videos to do my best in furthering my knowledge of them, nevertheless I have been told to upgrade my processor more than once and am wondering if that is something that could be holding me back to do the best I can in games. Please forgive my less tech savvy self if I leave anything out :) Currently I raid mythic in World of Warcraft am on the last boss of the expansion. I play fire mage and can drop below 20 frames occassionaly as my peaks go up to ~40 and have that vally of below 20. For those of you perhaps looking to help me that don't play the game the encounter I am talking about can bring a hefty workload to even high end enthusiast pcs, from some reasearch I did I found that the top teir players even have recordings of them dropping to ~30 fps in the encounter. So possibly just a awfully optimized encounter in game or I am experiencing some kind of bottleneck(which people keep telling me but I am not sure if I beleive it) I play on the very lowest settings in that situation and have DirectX 12 selected in game. I want to try and not drop below 30 fps EVER while being even on 1 settings, functionality in game is VERY important for me

Hardware specs
MOBO: Asus prime b350 plus
CPU: ryzen 5 1600
GPU: EVGA 2060 super XC gaming (recently upgraded because I thought my old card was holding me back)
RAM: corsair vengance LPX @ 3000mhz

Again if there is anything I left out please let me know and I will do my best to get it posted ASAP, thanks for the help and have a wonderful day.

Alex

Your ryzen 5 1600 isn't the fastest but I can definitely confirm that WoW raids are terribly optimised. I was probably sitting on 20 - 30fps for the majority of my time raiding in BFA with an i5 6600 + GTX 1080.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 @ Stock, CPU cooler: Dark Rock 4, Motherboard: MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX, RAM: 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4 @ 3000Mhz, GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 ACX 3.0, SSD: Crucial P1 1TB M.2 + 2x120GB SSDs, Case: Corsair 110R, PSU: Corsair TX650M, OS: Windows 10 64-bit.
