My friend is trying to use both of these memory kits. The RAM in the package is only two sticks of 4GB since the other two are in use in another computer. His motherboard is a Gigabyte GI Sniper Z170 and wants to use both kits but we both couldn't figure out how to tweak the bios for the RAM to do it. The problem with plugging them both in is that his monitor won't turn on and stays black screened. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried just plugging them in? The existing kit is only 2800 CL16 so it's likely that new kit will also run at that same speed.

He tried but his computer's monitor would just black screen and never turn on. I'll add this info to the OP.

He may need to lower the XMP/DOCP profile already set in his BIOS to a lower speed for the new RAM to work, or increase the voltage of the RAM (up to 1.4v) if he would like to try maintain his speed.

my guess is OP needs to update the bios, which will clear his settings then insert the memory, memory of the same kind needs to be in the same channel.

That's what @TrigrH's post is about! I am very thankful to find as knowledgeable people as y'all!

Should the newest BIOS update be adequate? His PC was bought back in like 2016.0d83444b44c58a2ece5288a7aa213625.png

F22f is ideal, F4 specifically mentions fixes. So you need to be F4 or above.
