Budget (including currency): £1200

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Subnautica, Rainbow six siege, Borderlands 3, More reasonably modern games, nothing too extreme

I already have the peripherals, I'm upgrading from a laptop with no GPU and a Ryzen 5 2500U (4C/8T 2Ghz base 3.8Ghz boost w/ Vega 8 graphics) which is obviously a huge upgrade. I'm going to be buying in the next month or so, the only thing I cant do at the moment is upgrade to a B550 board but I do plan on it. I'm going to be playing 1080p @144hz. It says 900 here but I have other things in my amazon basket such as more case fans and thermal paste cable ties etc, plus I will only be buying off amazon and some of this stuff is from other places. Thanks for the help!

Drop the cooler, the stock cooler is great to get you started and then if you find it's too loud or you want to push more performance then look at something else. The 212 Evo isn't exactly top notch either. Swapped out the PSU and GPU for something better. The KO is about on part with a 2060 Super iirc and the PSU is better quality as well.

It does, all AMD CPUs come with a stock cooler.

If you can, wait for the B550 Mobos, which will launch in about a month. As I heared they will support Zen3 too.

Windows 11 Pro 22H2

Ryzen 3600

Gigabyte B450M DS3H

GIGABYTE RTX 2080 GAMING OC

G.Skill Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory

yea that's the plan, my cpu doesn't have integrated graphics so it should be compatible, although if they cost too much more I might have to stick with with b450, x570 is just too far out my budget, I don't really need it anyway

well done by the way, you managed to increase my performance and still kept the same budget even though you couldn't see everything else

I would get the 3600 instead of the 3600X - the extra price is not worth it unless you get it basically for the same price. Here's a build with a 3600, B450 motherboard (same quality as the Tomahawk Max), faster ram (tighter timings), way better 1TB NVMe SSD, way better video card, corsair case with great airflow and a better PSU (if you want to get the Focus Gold, make sure you get the Focus Plus Gold - the old version had some flaws). If you prefer the looks of the Tomahawk or the iCue 220T case, just switch the components out, I'm quite a bit under your budget.

Also get the windows license from ebay or some place else on the grey market. That should even save you enough money to get a X570 motherboard (Asus PRIME X570-P), which would give you the ability to upgrade to the upcoming Ryzen 4000 CPUs in the future, if you so desire.

Hey so my graphics card has changed since your post, im going through a lot of iterations because i want to get this right, i want my price to performance to be aa high as possible, im now using the motherboard you suggested, a 2060 super (gigabyte windforce oc edition) and the regular 3600 as you reccomended, id rather stick with ths corsair 220T and corasair vengence(now 3600) as want my pc to show the front fans plus the glassy rgb look is my favourite. My budget is actually significantly higher over 900, its roughly 1200 including the monitor, however pc parts picker doesnt show everything such as extra fans and stuff like that, everything is in my amazon basket and im happy to take screenshots if you would like. Thanks.
